Heritage Arms: Reviews - Blaser R93, Synthetic .30-06

Precision, accuracy, and grace are all merits of the Blaser R93 series. The best review I can give you of the one-shot accuracey of the Blaser R93 is a story that took place one very dark African night. We'd been sitting in a leopard blind for 5 hours and various night animals had sampled our bait as we waited for the big male to come in. As the temperature drops, so many variable go through your mind: change of impact, doubt of your shot, repeatability of precision on the range, now that you're faced with a moving, breathing animal.

The leopard finally came in around midnight. The silence of the night was broken as a single shot rang out, and a huge 7ft male leopard fell to the ground. The rifle was an R93 synthetic stock .30-06. The shooter was my father. How better to describe accuracy, not on paper, but rather on game. Shooting a stagnant target with close groups is a good baseline, but out there, in the wild, a single shot shows the worth of a rifle. How accurate is the R93? I can tell you that when my father shot, he called the point of the shoulder, bisecting the heart. When we found the big male, that's where the shot was. With all the variables that could have gone wrong -- the light, the temperature, the distance -- the Blaser took one variable out of that equation.

I cannot give a higher reccomendation for a rifle.
